Well, what a successful Career Day Honey Glow had at Berwyn Heights Elementary School. I gave presentations to three fourth grade classes and made sure I brought props. The kids were great! They were full of questions. I left the classes knowing I made a difference in these kids. They now know that the honey does not just come off the shelf at a grocery store and they know how important it
This Friday I'm off to the local elementary school for Career Day. Honey Glow tries to get involved in community outreach as much as possible. I will be talking to fourth graders about how our interest in honey bees moved me into the natural products industries. I have to make sure I bring those wonderful honey stixs for the kids as a "thank you!"
Well, I'm diving in to making products for Honey Glow with all the shows coming up. I just panicked because I did not want to use the old labels I had in the past so I called onlinelabels.com and talked with a pleasant and knowledgeable person at customer service and found the perfect item I needed. I think it is great they give you ideas on what labels to use with certain type of containers.

This hive was requeened and is very active and overly friendly...if you can say that about a hive. We went up north today to get some more boxes for a new hive. Ordered a package of Russian bees and a queen. Now, we just need to get the kids to help us paint the boxes which I hope won't be to difficult. I'm almost ready for the bee season! Oh, gardening....I'm not ready.
I am toying with the idea of making some Mead this year.
Some History
Mead is one of the world’s oldest fermented beverages. It is an alcoholic beverage made by fermenting a mixture of honey and water. Traditionally, mead is simply honey and water. Variations have existed through the ages, i.e. mixing grape and other fruit wines with mead enhances the flavour and can be traced to Roman times.
The bees are buzzing here in Maryland. Not many plants are blooming yet, but the bees here in MD are abuzz over the crocus and small wildflowers blooming in the area. The pollen pockets are full to the brim.
